About JoPe Fors & Fjäll

Jonas is the owner and operator of JoPe Fors & Fjäll together with Åsa Kjellgren. Both Jonas and Åsa is educated at a mountaineering guide school for 2 year. Jonas started to work with rafting 1986 in Storlien with trips on Tångböleströmmarna.
At the same time he arranged 3 - 5 days climbing courses. Jonas started JoPe Fors & Fjäll 1989.
The rafting was quickly developed the following years. Wetsuits, better lifejackets and only self bailing rafts improved the safety and quality. Thanks to this equipment we can do rapid-swimming and surfing with the rafts.
We started with boogiesurfing, also called riverboarding 1994 as one of the first in Sweden. 1999 we started the kayak school.
We scouted and rafted several new rivers. Vålån is probably the best says the guide staff. Dammåns first rapid is the longest and steepest rapid we ever run. It is 4 km long and drop 105 m, non stop in grade 3 - 4 all the way down. But we don't run it commercial, yet!

Our speciality is the advanced rafting there the trips on Vålån and Gevsjöströmmarna have a high international quality. Jonas and Åsa perform all activities that we offer.

When we don't work you can see us in the mountains or maybe climbing in Greece or Thailand

Åsa keeps most of the selling and Jonas often you find on a rafting trip during the summer.
Jonas keeps control of the logistic and the maintenance of the equipment and vehicles.

Jonas is the safety manager and also holding licence to educate rafting guides. Jonas has worked a lot with safety in white water sports and has contributed to the regulations that the National Maritime Administration come with 1997.

JoPe Fors & Fjäll have the Swedish ecotourism society "nature's best" marking on all activities.
We are also quality-marked by ETOUR; European Tourism Research Institute

Most of our guides have been working with us for many years and most of them hold the SRT; Swift water rescue technique.
